Ideogen at ICML 2027: The Science of Malignant Lymphoma

Meet Ideogen at ICML 2027 in Lugano, 15–19 June, to discuss the latest advances in malignant lymphoma research, diagnosis and treatment.

Ideogen will be present at ICML 2027 in Lugano to discuss the latest advances in malignant lymphoma research, diagnosis and treatment—including rare and complex subtypes such as T-cell and cutaneous lymphomas. The 19th International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma takes place from 15–19 June 2027 at Palazzo dei Congressi, Lugano, Switzerland.[4]

Lugano is lymphoma’s home ground. ICML has convened the international lymphoma community in Switzerland since 1981, held as a biennial meeting that brings together physicians, scientists and multidisciplinary specialists from around the world.[5]

Why ICML matters

Unlike broad oncology or broad haematology congresses, the International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma is devoted to a single field: the biology, pathology and management of lymphoid neoplasms. That focus gives every session unusual depth—from first-in-human data to real-world case discussion.

ICML is organised by the Foundation for the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR) in cooperation with the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the European School of Oncology Foundation (ESOF) and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO)—a partnership that anchors the meeting in both European and global lymphoma science.[6]

For 2027, the organisers have also scheduled the ICML–ESMO Full-immersion Course from 12–14 June, immediately preceding the main congress, offering focused education on malignant lymphoma for specialist trainees and clinicians.[4]

A format built for depth

ICML’s reputation rests on formats other congresses do not prioritise. Clinical case discussions, meet-the-professor sessions and focus-on tracks allow rare entities to receive the same scrutiny as common ones. The conference is described by its organisers as a unique opportunity for the international community involved in the research and treatment of haematological malignancies to share, debate and update knowledge and expertise.[5]

For rare lymphoma subtypes—where single-centre experience is small and evidence is thin—this depth is precisely what clinical teams need.

Why lymphoma, in figures

Oncohaematology is Ideogen’s therapeutic area, and lymphoma sits at its centre. Within haematological malignancies, non-Hodgkin lymphoma carries the highest lifetime risk of incidence (0.73%) of any blood cancer—ahead of leukaemia, multiple myeloma and Hodgkin lymphoma—while haematological malignancies overall account for an estimated 6.6% of new cancer cases and 7.2% of cancer deaths worldwide (GLOBOCAN 2022 data across 185 countries).[2a]

Within lymphomas, rare and cutaneous subtypes receive comparatively little research attention relative to their clinical complexity. ICML is the meeting where that imbalance is corrected for five days in Lugano.

This is also where Ideogen’s oncohaematology focus becomes specific: our scientific interest centres on relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma and other rare and cutaneous lymphoma subtypes, where the evidence base continues to evolve and where specialist exchange has the greatest effect on care. ICML’s depth in T-cell biology, pathology and clinical management speaks directly to these entities.

The science we want to discuss

Rare and T-cell lymphomas

Ideogen’s scientific interests include rare and complex lymphoma subtypes, including T-cell and cutaneous lymphomas, where the evidence base continues to evolve. ICML is the leading forum for these entities: pathology, molecular characterisation, imaging and treatment strategy are discussed side by side by the specialists who manage them.

In Lugano, we will be interested in how emerging data are weighed in these rare subtypes: the strength of follow-up, interpretation of response criteria, and how translational findings are moving towards clinical application.

From biology to clinical decisions

Lymphoma science increasingly depends on integrating genomics, imaging, minimal residual disease and novel therapeutic approaches. ICML’s programme spans this full arc, connecting basic research to oral communications and poster discussion.[4]

Our focus will be on balanced, non-promotional exchange: what the evidence shows, what it does not yet show, and how specialists are approaching the treatment questions that remain open. A single positive study does not settle a treatment question; duration of follow-up, population differences and comparator choices all matter.

A multidisciplinary forum

ICML attracts haematologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear-medicine specialists and researchers. That multidisciplinary mix mirrors how lymphoma is actually managed—not by one specialty in isolation, but through coordinated specialist teams.

We look forward to hearing how centres structure these teams, how diagnostic pathways are organised, and how rare-subtype expertise is concentrated and shared.

Practical details for ICML 2027

  • Dates: 15–19 June 2027[4]
  • Venue: Palazzo dei Congressi, Lugano, Switzerland[4]
  • Precongress course: ICML–ESMO Full-immersion Course, 12–14 June 2027[4]

Meet Ideogen in Lugano

Ideogen will be at ICML 2027 to discuss the latest advances in malignant lymphoma—research, diagnostics and treatment—with the specialist community that definitionally focuses on these diseases. Given our longstanding scientific interest in rare and complex lymphomas, Lugano is one of the most important fixtures in our 2027 calendar.

If you are attending, we would welcome the opportunity for a scientific conversation with the Ideogen team during the meeting.
